I went to see some live music the other night and had all kinds of new (or they felt new) thoughts about
live music vs. recorded music.

I picked up the Cd too. It sounds really good. Much attention to detail, interesting programming, good production.

Then there was the show...sure it was good. (all really good musicians!) But, what about the sound,
attention to detail, programming...?

Is the art of live performance dead? Am I just repeating Glen Gould from 30 years ago? It is odd to me th at
you go to a club (perhaps thats the key word) pay a good sized cover charge and get a fairly casual
performance from some great artists.

Is this a Toronto problem? Do i just think too much? Club vs. concert...not sure.

happy minus 30 degrees folks!!

I cant believe the tradition continues. I too fall asleep reading my son his bedtime story. Just like
my Dad did. It always feels so weird (like right now) waking up after a 1.5 hour nap in theeventing.

Perhaps I should just pretend I am on the road and it is just a pre-gig nap...hahaha

I think I feel extra funny tonight with the "Slogan Songs" of my friend Taylor Savvy looping through
my head: I saw Chuck Berry with his pants off....Folk songs of Canada Let this be one...The King of France
Wet his pants...

AFter catching the Leaf highlights (yes they won again) I was watching Magaret Atwood interviewed
by Evan Solomon. (with a little flipping to ZED on commercials) If tv was always that good...wow!

I want to try to be up in 6.75 hours when Mike Hansen plays the whole suite from my new Cd on Ckln.
He said he would. Damn, I know I will miss it by about five minutes.... frustrating.

He is a great guy and has a great radio show, Wednesday mornings 7-llam CKLN 88.1

Sad about team Canada getting the Silver. I am not obsessed with winning and
I find that part about sports to be my least favourite but....when it comes to
world hockey. I want to win. Whats up?!!

Is it a curse now?

Anyways, today is the day I have decided to do something about my lack
of International touring. Yes, I am fairly busy (as all urbanites often claim to
be) but I am going to try and get up at 630 am and start making some calls.

It is inspiring seeing my friends heading off to other parts of the world to play
their original music. Watch out...here I come!!

Did you guys read about Alex Lifeson? (if you are reading this blog you probably know he is in Rush)

He was thrown in jail in Florida. It totally made me think of the Trailer Park Boys episode. You have to check that out. funny!! I plan to rent some on DVD.

I had to throw on the recent studio Cd by the boys today to honour poor Alex. (Hmmm....my friend who burned me a copy of the recent CD also showed me the trailer park boys episode...coincidence??...Insert background
music here: use choice of quiet parts of Xanadu or Cinderella man) hahaha

People always ask me what a blog is:

Blog -- (weB LOG)
A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of
updating a blog is "blogging" and someone who keeps a blog is a "blogger."
Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with
little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog.
Postings on a blog are almost always arranged in cronological order with the
most recent additions featured most prominantl

Dont forget to watch Canada kick some US butt in the world Junior hockey finals, Monday at Noon.
