I was trying to figure out why I keep a blog yesterday.

I guess I truly believe that I have a few things of interest on my mind more often than not. Fun and useful for me (and hopefully others) to get them out!

Also, musicians of my generation seem to be acting, composing, ie, working in a paradigm that doesnt necessarily match their environment, now, 2004.

I dont think I have figured this out completely myself either but I hope that I can shed some light on topics such as recording, touring, cd sales, bandleading, composition, community etc.

Until I have a better place to pass on some of my ideas; I guess I'll keep on Bloggin!

I am starting to understand why people stay home so much. I have always been one to be out most of the time. checking out shows, hanging with friends etc.

This new computer is my anchor to home now. I read my fave blogs, (thanks Carl) check out the Globe, do some work, listen to music the whole time on itunes, including downloading bands I am reading about new cds etc.

Okay, i went for a walk to queen video and got a fellini flick...but Ill watch it on the computer too. I have never been set up like this but have known others who speak of this type of life but I never really understood.

Having said all that...I went out to hear Rob and Randi's cd launch tonight at the Transzac. Great fun!! Being out, seeing friends hearing music played live. You cant beat it!

Here is the problem: remembering that fact. Live art is the best. Don't forget it. Turn off your computer (or at least put it to sleep)

what a great bash the Rex threw for the local musicians last night! thanks Bob and Tom!

I look at the festival listing for the toronto jazz fest and I have to wonder. Why would the publicist print nothing about the unknown bands and two paragraphs about Wynton?

I know why...but it makes me mad as they will say; "avant garde series?...heck no one attended that last year"...Just put a picture or a good article about some of these groups and people will check it out! We wont set any attendance records but...

doing a little evan parker research today (thanks Randall!)

I quite enjoy the electro acoustic ensemble recording from 1999. Also having an interesting discussion/debate with Ted Phillips about the gracenote database....interesting stuff. It is quite cool when, I upload a cd to my computer, if someone else has entered the info for it, my computer grabs it offline and it is all "labeled".

I suppose we are doing it for the good of others. I am not sure this is the place for my charity energy but I keep getting more interested in this digital world....we shall see Ted, we shall see...
